This recipe makes 6 jam doughnuts. Time 40 minutes, plus 1-2 hours proving time
- Combine 1⁄2 tsp of the sugar, the yeast and 2tbsp of the milk and set aside.
- Mix the remaining sugar, flour and salt together, before adding the yeast mixture, remaining milk, eggs and melted butter.
- Allow the dough to prove somewhere warm, when doubled in size, knock the dough back.
- Split the mixture into 8 evenly size dough balls and roll into balls, allowing to prove again into doubled in size.
- Heat your oil to approximately 160C, place the doughnuts 2-3 at a time into the oil, allowing to colour evenly before removing to an oven tray (if the doughnut floats, the oil is hot enough).
- Place fried doughnuts into an oven at 160C for 8-10 minutes to ensure they are cooked in the middle.
- Remove from the oven, roll in cinnamon sugar and pipe with strawberry jam.
